To celebrate and witness a boisterous 62nd birthday to the People’s Republic of China together, hundreds of thousands of people in Hong Kong watched a giant firework display on the National day, October 1, 2011.
The show started at 9 p.m. My friends and I got there early around 7 p.m. hoping to find a good location. But the hardcore fireworks watchers had already found the prime spots along the Avenue of the Stars from as early as midday. Upwards of 500,000 people descended on both sides of the harbour (according to the report by TVB and CNNGo.com). Every nook and cranny along the harbor front in Central, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui were jam packed.
