TLI Shenzhen & Savills Chinese Knot Class

Chinese knot is a decorative handicrafts, it is a kind of Chinese folk art forms. Chinese Knots were called làozi in ancient time, have a long history. Chinese knots are usually woven by a cable or rope. Each basic knot is named according to its shape, meaning. One Chinese knot is made up of different basic knots or other decorations with auspicious patterns.

On Jan. 24th, we made pán zhǎng jié(盘长结). It means the unity of mind and matter, without beginning or end.

Everyone was very attentive to the teacher and made the beatiful Chinese knots. They brought the knots to their family and friends with their blessing.

TLI & SWIC Calligraphy class
TLI & SWIC Calligraphy class was held successfully at TLI school

TLI held Calligraphy class successfully in the morning on Sep. 21th and 24th with SWIC at TLI Shekou branch. Everyone had a really good time.

 At the beginning, the teacher Yukee shared the calligraphy culture with all of us. She introduced the history about Chinese characters. The original characters maybe some simple graphic symbols on the knives or other tools. Now it evolved to this look.

Then Yukee showed how to write the basic strokes ' 一 (héng) ', '丨(shù) ', '丿(piě) ', ' 乀(nà)', '丶(diǎn)'.

After TLI teacher's explaining, everyone couldn't wait to practicing the strokes. They all very focused on the calligraphy. Read more »

TLI & SAVILLS Snowy Mooncakes Making Activity

With the help of the staff, TLI-Shenzhen held the Snowy Mooncakes making activty at Savills on September. 11th successfully. Many students of TLI-Shenzhen and residents in Savills attended the activity.

 Savills Fully prepared many kinds of mooncakes for offering the participants a taste before the activity began. Everyone was in a festival mood once they got there.

 At the beginning, the teachers of TLI-Shenzhen taught the participants some common words of the materials. Then the teacher Camille showed the procedure of making snowy mooncakes.  Read more »

TLI & Ascott Dumplings making activity

TLI-Shenzhen held the dumplings making activity at Ascott on Aug. 15th successfully with the help of the staff. Many students of TLI and residents in Ascott attended the activity.

 

The teachers of TLI prepared two kinds of stuffing for dumplings. One is made of pork and corn, one is made of Chinese chives and eggs. These are both tranditional stuffing for dumplings in usual.

The teacher of TLI taught the people who participate in some new words of vegetables and how to make dumplings one by one. They learnt very fast, and successfully made dumplings by themselves. Read more »

TLI-Shenzhen held the dumplings making activity at Fraser Place on Aug. 6th successfully with the help of the staff. Many students of TLI and residents in Fraser Place attended the activity.

The teachers of TLI prepared two kinds of stuffing for dumplings. One is made of pork, mushroom and corn, one is made of chinese chives and eggs. These are both tranditional stuffing for dumplings in usual.

The teacher of TLI taught the people who participate in some new words of vegetables and how to make dumplings. They learnt very fast, and successfully made dumplings by themselves. The children also took the dumplings that they made to their parents at home. Read more »

TLI-Shenzhen Chinese Calligraphy Activity
TLI-Shenzhen Chinese calligraphy activity

TLI-Shenzhen successfully held Calligraphy class in July 23th. Everyone had a good time.

At first, the teacher tought the students to write several simple characters, such as " 一、二、三", which means "one, two, three". They had fun with using writing brush to write Chinese characters. Then the teacher tought them to write their Chinese names according to their English name's pronunciation. The students are very excited to have Chinese names.

"Chinese calligraphy" is a kind of traditional and peculiar Chinese characters art. Read more »
