Captivating International Foundation Limited Publishes a Bilingual Cookbook Titled “Our International Kitchen"

[Nov.1st, Shenzhen] On October 22nd at its annual charity event, Captivating International launched the sales of its first published cookbook titled “Our International Kitchen”.  The price of the book is 280 RMB with 100% of the proceeds benefit the Seng Girls’ Vocational Training School and Home (SGVTS) Project.  To purchase a copy of the book please email lynn@captivating.org. 

The bilingual cookbook is a fundraising project initiated by a group of local Captivating International volunteers in Shenzhen, China.  The cookbook committee made up of6 ladies; Michelle Behling, Liz Jheeta, Angela Kowalski, April Potterfield, Lynn Velez and Vivian Yuan have embraced China as their home and proven their willingness to give back to a country that has given them so much.  The cookbook, “Our International Kitchen”, demonstrates their gratitude to their ‘host country’ China.  

The cookbook committee saw the need to create an English and Chinese bilingual cookbook featuring recipes from all over the world submitted by people in their community.  It does take a village to raise a child and the Shenzhen village has exemplified this through the publication of the cookbook.  They are now supporting over 100 girls at the Seng Girls’ Vocational Training School and Home (SGVTS).   

Captivating International is proud to see so many people in their community support the cookbook project.  People volunteered their time and expertise by translating recipes, test cooking recipes, taking photos of the cooked dishes and the girls and diligently proofing the cookbook.  The book would not be the work of art it is today without the volunteer design team who turned it into a “coffee table book”.   Print Ninja, a Shenzhen based printing company, is to thank as well for donating their services and covering 70% of the printing costs themselves.

The Seng Girls’ Vocational Training School and Home (SGVTS) is a place of safety and promise for girls from extremely disadvantaged circumstances.  Located in the southern part of Qinghai Province in China, the SGVTS was established in 2005 by a family who had a passion to see girls from ‘at-risk’ circumstances given the chance to achieve their dreams.   The SGVTS is a registered vocational training school and operates with the full cooperation of local and provincial governments of Qinghai.  It is central to the vision and dreams of a Chinese registered non-profit organization called LOVEQTRA.  Captivating International partners with LOVEQTRA to see these improvised girls reach out for a better tomorrow.  Captivating International fully funds the operating costs of this program and its strategic development.
