For many, Guangdong is the place for food. Such a bold statement comes from the fact that Shenzhen, as a relatively new city, has embraced all types of cuisine from China and throughout the world. Flavors run the spectrum from sweet and sour to bitter, spicy and salty. Shenzhenese also have cravings for hot and spicy specialties from Sichuan Province as well as from the Indian kitchen.
Most restaurants in Shenzhen offer exemplary service with some going as far as making certain dishes to your specific request. Prices vary according to venue. Small shops and fast food branches typically offer inexpensive meals while prices at upscale restaurants can be extremely high.
Same goes with the Indian Restaurants in Shenzhen.
One of them is Spice Of Circle, located on the Dongmen South Road.
Staying alone in Shenzhen, it does get boring at times,Food is the best way out most of us. After a lot of this, that, where, which, north, south, Indian, Chinese, I headed straight to the Spice Circle. It also has a reputation, where in U have to don't have to wait for a long time to get a table. So I hadn't asked to make table reservations . FCFS. Ugg on a Week End. No way.
I reached by 7:45 PM as i was eager to get my plate full of delicacies. Where Did I land up? A somberly well decorated and Well lit Dining Area , Where Expat-Indians as well as few Chinese were enjoying their meals.
The menu is comprehensive with vegetarian & non-vegetarian dishes. Among entrées, the restaurant pampers you with its choice of North West Frontier Province and Tandoori Ovens.
The food was served on a tray in line with the overall décor. Most of the dishes are large portions meant for sharing, & I did have the chance of sampling all its utterly delectable items. The tables are furbished with different chutneys not to forget the Salad with Pickles. I were generous in cleaning them too. I began with vegetable Samosas which offer scrumptious fillings between their thin sheets. The main course ushers in bread/rice with Paneer Butter Masala, Malai Kofta, Dal Makhani with an assortment of parathas & such other delicious items. Biryani too is exceptionally well done, low on spices & high on flavours.
On second thoughts, you could try almost anything on the menu & have a guaranteed great meal, so another visit is a must for the things you didn’t get to taste the first time.
The establishment also boasts an extensive beverage menu, with fine wines, cocktails & non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a decent dessert section, should you care to venture that way after an almost assuredly large repast. Make sure you save some appetite for India's fabled desserts— Gulab jamun, Malai Kulfi.
The service was quite fast. Even though in a place like this you don’t mind it to be slightly slow so that you can sink in the ambiance. Spice Circle sets a high bar for itself with its elaborate, innovative menu -& manages to deliver. Prices are not too expensive; the bill for a group of 2 adults was around 300 Yuan.
