The International Art design Center (iADC) is a ground breaking Creative Complex, Designer & Home Furnishings Market and Mall (1 million square feet) in Shenzhen, China. The iADC complex is comprised of a 12-story trade and exhibition center for furniture (iADC Mall), a design museum, a hotel, office buildings, an art town and an adjacent area that will be for residential use. It is a self-sustaining ecosystem for designers to learn, live and sell, and for customers to visit, browse and experience the best in home design. The iADC will become a central platform for the home design industry in China, throughout Asia and even the world.
The Shenzhen ManJingHua (MJH) Investments Group, a group that encompasses real estate, commercial property and international trade, is the developer behind the iADC. It already owns and operates another design center, the Art Design Center (ADC), at the southern end of the city.
A New Exhibition Star born in the Southern China
Home to a number of large international exhibition centers, the Pearl River Delta (in the south of China) has become the largest and most influential exhibition hub in China. Located in the heart of the Pearl River Delta Economic Corridor, the iADC is near the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Conference Center, which is one of the world’s largest. The iADC is also located 15 minutes from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, and is a short 2 hour drive from Hong Kong. With its unique location and extensive services and communications network, the iADC is poised to become a critical focal point for the design trade and exhibition industry, and a vital intersection that promotes and strengthens interaction between China and the world.
The iADC in Shenzhen, the “City of Design” in China
On December 7, 2008, Shenzhen joined the UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network and became the first “City of Design” in China and the sixth in the world. It is also the first city in the developing world to have won this coveted title. Creativity and convenient transport have made Shenzhen a star city in the home design industry of southern China. With a population of over 10 million, its role as a financial center and technology incubator has helped the city transform from a market town to a bustling manufacturing center that has the third-busiest container port and fourth busiest airport in China.
The new Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center, 10 km from the iADC, began construction on September 28, 2016. The first phase of the project is slated to be completed and put into operation in 2019. It will be the largest conference and exhibition center in the world, and will serve as a complement to the iADC for exhibits, expositions, trade conferences and overlapping constituencies.
