Tsinghua Experimental School in Shenzhen (TESS) is situated in the Bao’an District of Shenzhen, China. A state-owned school run by the local people, TESS is currently operated by a school board including members from the Institute of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Middle School and Tsinghua Elementary School.
TESS was set up in 2001 and began to enroll students officially in September of 2002. Consisting of an Elementary School, Junior and Senior High Schools, as well as the International School Section, it is the only educational institution outside of Beijing established by Tsinghua University.
TESS currently has more than 6000 students and 600 staff.
