Language is a bridge between cultures and nations. Our aim is to bridge China and Chinese culture to the world, to bridge the East to the West and to help us learn more of one another and our different ways of living and speaking. This bridge can also bring us closer together through newly founded friendships and mutual understanding. Through our teaching experience and commitment to our students, through our combined use of standard Mandarin and fluent English skills, we wish to help create this bridge.

The Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival 端午节duān wǔ jié

Most people say that the day is held in remembrance of Qu Yuan (c.340-c.278 BC), a great patriotic poet of Chu State in the Warring States period (475-221 BC) who committed suicide in the Miluo River, Hunan Province; People eat zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in reed leaves, compete in dragon boat races, cleanse their homes by putting up the leaves of mugwort (Artemisia argyi) or cattail on either side of the door, spray realgar water in the room, and drink realgar wine (traditionally drunk during the Dragon Boat Festival to get rid of calamities and prevent poisonous creatures).http://www.hanbridgemandarin.com/CultureInfo.asp?id=46
