Though the true origins of the hamburger are somewhat ambiguous, one fact is very clear: burgers have taken the world by storm since they made their first appearance sometime in the 19th century, China being no exception. Though burgers can be found in virtually all corners of the planet, their reputation has been flawed thanks to the immense popularity of global fast food chains that mass produce the meat and destroy the planet in the process. Not all burgers cater to the vast masses however and chains like McDonald’s can be easily avoided, especially in major cities like Shenzhen. In a city, country or even a world obsessed with devouring burgers as fast as they are produced, it’s a refreshing change to find restaurants that respect the burger as they would a prime filet steak. Below is a guide to where you can find top quality burgers in Shenzhen without the guilt.

Cowboy’s is probably the best choice for good quality burgers at decent prices. Cowboy’s customer base extends beyond those wishing to grab a quick bite to those missing the flavour of authentic American food and with the quality to match. Unlike the mass purveyors of fast food, Cowboy’s grills its meat instead of frying it, which means that not only are they tastier but significantly healthier too. Basic quarter pounder burgers cost around 20 rmb, a real bargain for the fact that you get a nice smokey chunk of meat as opposed to grease. The restaurant also provides free wireless internet and has a decent choice of American classics such as Buffalo Wings and French Fries. Coffee, tea, beer and soda are also available.

牛仔芝士漢堡

The burger was freshly prepared and I just needed to wait for a few minute only.
The meat were soft and juicy . Though it was not as good as some burgers in BK
the taste is good and better than average burgers.
In my opiinion , it could be a very good alternative to KFC , McDonald and BurgerKing . smile
With only $20 RMB , I suppose you could seldom have a burger like this

I am a Chinese American, born and raised in the USA. I love hamburgers and have sorely missed the ones in the USA. MCD is OK, but not like the best ones back in the states. Came upon this webpage and I had to to go try Cowboy's Hamburgers. My Chinese girlfriend thought it might all be a scam and waste of time to go, but i persisted and finally, we took a taxi to try and find this place. When we found the place, we were not encouraged. It was bring and clean enough inside, but usually the best burgers places in the USA are not decorated like this. Reminded me more of MCD. Anyway, we place our order (double hamburger, sauage and chicken wings) and waited. While we were waiting, I met another American eating there and he said the food was good. Well, he was right. Other than the fact that I would like the burger to be a bit bigger, the double hamburger was THE BEST HAMBURGER I HAVE HAD IN CHINA AND THAT INCLUDES HONG KONG. In fact, the double hamburger would rate highly in the USA if the burgers were a bit larger. The sauce on the hamburgers was excellent. Not too sweet, not too spicy or hot, but just right. The sausage and chicken wings were good, but not great. But for the money, the double burger is the best deal there is anywhere in China. My main suggestion is that they setup restaurants where they can have more exposure to "foreigners" in China. I hope they grow to be a national chain so I don't have to travel so far to find them in the future.

Yesterday we followed our burger senses and met up at Cowboy's Burger.

We where eight hamburger lovers and was looking forward to get some tasty burgers, Tom also provided us with Budweiser, how many burger places in town serve Budweiser?

 

This event we where 8 BBQ|SZ-JUDGES attending.

 

Cowboy's Burgers Total Score: 31 points

Bonus points: 6 points

Bonus points where given for a

good atmosphere,

GREAT price,

Tom (the owner) is a good guy,

They got beer (even Budweiser) and a pool table!

And this adds up to a Grand Total Score of 37 points!
