Built in 1997, the forest covers 20,000 square metres (4.94 acres) with a variety of 500 Coniferopsida woods from Liaoning, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. These fossil trees came to being in the Mesozoic era (150 to 70 million years ago). It was the golden age of cone type plants’ revolution when tall trees were buried deep underground in the fierce crustal movements and became the fossil we see today.
