In Memory of Harry Cochran

Harry Cochran

Harry Cochran passed away on July 14, 2013 while riding his bike with his wife Jin Lan in Shekou.  Harry, a longtime resident of Shekou having moved here in March 2005, lived at Rose Garden 2 and of course like many American expats, had family and friends both here and in the USA.

Harry leaves behind his wife in China, and in America two Daughters whom he loved dearly and five Grandchildren, our thoughts are with them and all his family at this time.

His work life included diligently and faithfully serving the ex-pat community at Dial-an-Angel…yet Harry also had a long history of entrepreneurial successes under his belt.   One of his most recent efforts included serving on the Shenzhen Sports and Social Committee based at the new Snake Pit Bar located at Rose Garden 2.  His passion for marketing made new inroads on Shenzhen Party, Standard and Stuff.  Harry was always eager and forceful in sharing his ideas to build the membership and to raise funds for local charities.

Harry attacked everything with all the energy, eagerness and dedication that we could expect from anyone…and then he added his “Harry factor” and pushed things farther.  Full of energy and ideas…then salted with that outrageous loud laugh of his, he gave 100%+ to everything he did.

There will be a “Remember Harry” event in the weeks ahead at the Snake Pit to honor Harry and to raise some funds for the family. Individuals wishing to directly donate can do so at the Snakepit  where dedicated ‘fish bowls’ have been set up for donations. We hope all of you who knew Harry can join us and raise a glass to a great guy…and of course, all are welcome to join in and to celebrate his life!

Farewell Harry Brent. Thanks

Farewell Harry

Brent. Thanks  for setting this up. Something like this  really needed to be done. As you say Harry has been an integral part of the Shenzhen community for quite some time... And while you mention his moving here in 2005, I can remember meeting him in Shenzhen on business as far back as 2003 when he was already working on Sinohub. And for that entire 10 years here he has always been living life to the fullest, and while he went quickly, he was active right up to the end... whether biking on his  last day or body surfing on XiChong beach with me only a few weeks ago. Harry was always  up for anything.

We'll miss you Harry.
