According to the Shenzhen Daily the minimum wage will rise on Feb 1st:

THE minimum wage in Shenzhen will rise to 1,500 yuan (US$238) per month, or 13.3 yuan per hour, starting tomorrow.

The hike will make Shenzhen’s minimum wage the highest on the Chinese mainland.

The overtime wage will rise accordingly. According to the law, the payment for overtime work is 1.5 times the regular wage during the week, twice the regular wage on weekends and three times the regular wage on public holidays. That means the employers have to pay at least 138 yuan for a day’s work on weekends, and at least 207 yuan for a day’s work on public holidays.

Shenzhen's Local Cable Company Topway has released a new plan offering double the speed of the normal internet service. The normal service they were offering was 2 Megabit and they have now release a new plan that offers 4 Megabit. The 4 Megabit option is 150RMB a month (up 50RMB from the normal 100RMB a month 2 Megabit plan.)
You can go to one of the Topway customer service centers with your passport to signup or upgrade your plan. Call Topway Customer Service Line 96933 to find the nearest center near you they will text the address to your phone.

Westin Shenzhen opented very softly their new Steak House called the Grange Grill last Friday. This has been a long awaited restaurant and bar at the top of the hotel with a small terrace bar that looks over the Windows of the World. Get there around 8:30pm Friday or Saturday to see the fireworks show put on by the Windows of the World. They are just starting operation so don't flood them to try the steak sampler which includes a taste of Wagu. More to come when the hotel gives us some official information. Read more »
