Petrified Trees have been shipped to Shenzhen China's Fairy Lake Botanical Garden to make the world's largest Petrified Forest. A great place to have a Jurassic family picnic. Dress like the Flintstones for maximum fun.

Built in 1997, the forest covers 20,000 square metres (4.94 acres) with a variety of 500 Coniferopsida woods from Liaoning, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. These fossil trees came to being in the Mesozoic era (150 to 70 million years ago). Read more »

Baia, My New Favorite in Shekou

Baia. Restaurant. Bar. Grill is now offically my favorite restaurant in Shekou.

The first time I went there was to drop off some toys for needy kids as Baia was the venue for a charity event. Finding it was tough because Seaworld had changed so much from my memory. Walking past the Minghua Ship and still not seeing it, I was ready to give up hope. But then I turned around and boom, there it was - right there on the third floor of a new building.

Shenzhen - 11th Most Dynamic City

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a Chicago based real estate investment firm has named Shenzhen the 11th most dynamic city in the world.

Top 3 dynamic cities are San Francisco, London and Dubai.

The other mainland cities that made the list are Shanghai (4th place), Wuhan (5th place) and Beijing (13th place). In addition to that, Chengdu and Tianjin also made the top 20s.

Cities that got the higher rankings usually held stronger economic power like San Francisco; they also urbanized faster like Shenzhen and had a better atmosphere for creativity like Austin…


Obstetrics Services Available at HKU SZ Hospital

The Obstetrics Department at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Shenzhen Hospital was open in Nanshan on August 26th, 2013. At the time being, it only offers parental services for women in their first trimester. Later, at the end of 2014, it will become fully operational with 120 hospital beds and be ready for 4,000 births per year. Read more »
