Shenzhen 'wants to kill' HK factories

Hundreds Miss Flights in Shenzhen as New Rule Takes Effect

Shenzhen Daily, Han ximin reported that "HUNDREDS of passengers missed their flights Jan. 1 when a new rule took effect at Shenzhen Bao’an Airport, under which check-in service stops 40 minutes before departure, as opposed to the usual 30 minutes.

The Shenzhen airport handled about 28,000 passengers or around 250 flights a day in the past days, and for each flight, there were around two to three passengers failing to catch up for not knowing the rule."

Shenzhen Finds Cancer-causing Mildew in Food

The food safety regulator in the southern city ofShenzhen said Friday it uncovered carcinogenic mildew-tainted peanuts and cookingoil in the latest overhaul on food safety.

 

The carcinogenic mildew, called aflatoxin in scientific terminology, has triggered widepublic concern over the safety of dairy products after being found in milk products fromdairy giant Mengniu.

 

The Shenzhen market supervision bureau said that it found up to 4.3 times of thepermitted level of aflatoxin in peanuts sold in two supermarkets and one frozen foodstore.

Man Suspected Being Infected with Bird Flu in Shenzhen

A 39-year-old bus driver is suspected of being infected with the highly pathogenic H5N1 virus in the southern city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, local authorities said Friday.

The man surnamed Chen was hospitalized for a fever on Dec. 21 and tested positive for the H5N1 avian influenza virus in Bao'an District of Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong, the provincial health department said.

Chen is still in critical condition and is receiving emergency treatment, it said. Read more »
