Shenzhen Dapeng Tourism Plan Unveiled

Shenzhen Daily, Han Ximin reported that "SHENZHEN is planning to develop Dapeng Peninsula in Daya Bay into an international tourist spot. According to a development plan of Shenzhen tourism authority for 2011-2015.

The development will be made according to the terrace and ecological conditions. Kuichong area will be developed into a transition area from an urban area into a tourism area, providing transit, facilities and convenience. The high-end marine industry will be developed in the area. International convention buildings and high-end resorts will also be built in what is already one of the most attractive coastal areas in China."

Shenzhen-Wuhan High-speed Direct Train Open in May 2012

Shenzhen Daily, Han Ximin reported that "THE Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail will be connected with the Wuhan-Guangzhou section this May, cutting the travel time between Shenzhen and Wuhan to under four hours, according to Lu Ruifeng, executive vice mayor of Shenzhen, at a panel discussion of the annual meeting of the city’s advisory body Monday.

Currently, passengers from Shenzhen to Wuhan and Changsha need to transfer at Guangzhou South Railway Station.

The Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail was opened Dec. 26 in time for the Spring Festival transport season of 2012. It takes several months for the railway authority to test the operation linking the two sections." Read more »

Hennessy XO Price Increased 60% in Shenzhen

Shenzhen Daily, Li Hao reported that "THE price of imported Hennessy XO in Shenzhen has risen by 60 percent in the past year, according to a report in yesterday’s Daily Sunshine.

“The price of a 700-mililiter bottle was only 1,098 yuan (US$174) for each bottle last January, and it jumped to 1,798 yuan within one year,” said an unidentified spirit seller at Jusco in CocoPark in Futian District.

The seller said the price of a 700-milliliter bottle of Hennessy XO fluctuated almost every month since September. The peak was 2,198 yuan per bottle. Read more »

Shenzhen to Recruit More Police

“Such a large migrant population makes Shenzhen more difficult to police,” he said. “We are badly in need of officers.”


Shenzhen Daily reported that "SHENZHEN will recruit 10,000 police in the next few years as the city faces a grave social security situation due to an increasing transient population, the city’s police chief said Monday.

About 19,000 officers are serving the city with a population of 15.56 million, Li Ming, chief of the local public security bureau, said on the sideline of the annual meeting of the city’s advisory body Monday. Of the total population, 12.85 million living here are not long-term residents."

Shenzhen attracts its first Western dentist. Dr Zac Morse who was teaching dentistry at the University of Hong Kong discovered Shenzhen and saw a great need for a foreign dentist to be able provide access to an international standard of dental care right here in Shenzhen.

[Jan 10, Las Vagas]This year’s International Consumer Electronics Show, which opens here Tuesday, will include, according to the show’s producer,  more than 2,700 exhibitors. Many of the usual players will be in attendance, including name brands like Canon, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG. 

In all, 244 exhibitors, nearly 10 percent of all the companies attending C.E.S., have the word “Shenzhen” in their name.

"Make it much closer to downtown Shenzhen" Better Environment Should be Created in Pingshan New Zone

“The current locations are not reasonable as they are mostly in Luohu, Futian and Nanshan districts. People living in those areas have much higher incomes than those in other areas on average and I think such a good program should serve those low-income people first,” said Li Guimin, a deputy from Pingshan New Zone.
