“Take Over America” goes Viral in China

A marketing agency in Shenzhen has given the world a glimpse of what the world could look like if China took over by creating U.S. currency featuring faces of Chinese emperors.

ITTIZ and Global from Asia sent red envelopes containing the bills to 500 of the biggest companies in Shenzhen, including LENOVO, ZTE, MEIZU, HUAWEI, HAIER, OPPO, DJI, and others. All of the bills are actual U.S. currency notes, ranging in value from $1 to $100, with a removable sticker of a Chinese emperor covering the respective U.S. icon’s image. Read more »

Smart Card - ShenzhenTong and Octopus

 SHENZHENTONG and Hong Kong’s Octopus smart card will be interchangeable before the National Day holidays, authorities announced after a meeting of Shenzhentong Card and HK Octopus Cards administrators Thursday.

The new smart card will manage two accounts with one electronic chip. Border-crossing travelers will be able to use the card for public transportation, shopping in supermarkets and convenience stores, and at participating restaurants in both cities.

Taxi fuel surcharge back to ¥3

Fares for Shenzhen red cabs start at 10 yuan, meaning the fare for a short trip is at least 13 yuan with the increased surcharge. As the surcharge fluctuated along with gas prices throughout the spring and summer, many passengers said 13 yuan is too expensive for a short ride.

Woman killed at police station

A woman was killed in a robbery in daylight at Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau.

She had just started her BMW at about 3:15 p.m. when two men who had followed her suddenly rushed toward the car with a knife and snatched her bag. The woman forcibly resisted the robbers and chased them.
