Had business associates from

Had business associates from the states in town a couple of weeks ago that stayed there and according to them it wasnt what they had expected from Holiday Inn. High priced, yet average to low service and ammenities, noisey in the room and inconvenient location.

bad location and the room was

bad location and the room was not very clean. the workers at the front desk dont understand english. way over priced for what you get, wont stay again.

I stayed there when first

I stayed there when first visiting China and although it served its purpose (a bed and a shower) it wasnt what I expected from Holiday Inn. The hotel is far away from everything -unless you consider McDonalds everything LOL) and the room didnt have adequate air conditioning -only central air for the entire hotel) or a fridge. It was super hot in SZ at the time and would have been nice to have those. The staff spoke very little English and couldnt give me clear advice or directions. Definitely not worth the room price IMO - for the same amount of money you can get something alot nicer in the heart of Luo Hu) and I wouldnt stay there again.

Very bad choice of hotel.

Very bad choice of hotel. After a tour around China I had my parents visiting SZ last week and decided to book a room at the Holiday Inn for their stay... I pre paid the full amount in cash 1 week before arrival to get the discounted rate of 339 RMB including tax. Unfortunately, after their domestic flight (which was booked 6 months in advance) from Zhanjiang was cancelled (2 days prior to check in) and changed by the airline to the following day, Holiday Inn flat out refused to offer any reimbursement or credit for the first night stay. After several conversations with the manager they then agreed to offer a refund but only if the rest of the nights booked would be charged at full price, essentially bringing the refund amount to less than 100 RMB. However, upon arrival they refused to refund any amount at all. In fact, they were quite rude saying "it's not our problem". After a lengthy explaination of the previous events and conversations they then agreed to refund 85 RMB for the first night. Okay, fine and dandy. That is until they actually went into the room to find it had not been properly cleaned, there was no door to the bathroom (which we later found out the bathroom door is also the shower door?) and the toilet wasnt working. On top of that they were doing construction in the hotel making it next to impossible to rest. After 2 hours they finally fixed the plumbing issue and so we thought everything would be fine. Wrong again. The following day the same issue occured and required another hour of sitting in the room waiting for it to be repaired. The staff were not helpful at all, again they were rude and at no time offered a new room, saying they were "all booked up". The free breakfast was similar to airplane food. Only one PC worked downstairs and it always seemed to be occupied. Upon check out the pre arranged limo costing a premium price of 1400 RMB to take them to the HK airport was 20 minutes late, meaning they then had to rush to the airport to be on time. Needless to say in terms of lodging and transportation it was not a very pleasent experience for my parents visiting China for the first time.

All in all, aside from the plumbing and construction noise issues the hotel was clean and comfortable, but because of the refund situation and staff being so rude I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, it is not centrally located, nothing of notable interest is within walking distance and finding taxi's can be a real issue especially at night on this out of the way dark street. You would be much better off staying elsewhere.
