If you are a fan of ballroom dance, you won’t want to miss the carnival this weekend. The world’s best dancers will gather in Shenzhen from July 17 to 20 to compete in the 12th Shenzhen China Open Championship, the most prestigious ballroom and Latin dancing competition in Asia.
More than 2,000 dancers from 30 countries and regions will participate in the four-day open championship. This year, the championship has added an under-18 category. The panel of 48 judges includes many former world champions and Blackpool Dance Festival judges, including Robin Short, Marcus Hilton, Anthony Hurley, Karen Hardy and Alan Fletcher.
Top seeds in standard and Latin dance include the duos Arunas Bizokas and Ekaterina Demidova from the United States, Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis from Britain, Marek Kosaty and Paulina Glazik from Poland and Troels Bager and Ina Ivanova Jeliazkova from Denmark.
The competition is approved by the World Dance Council and is one of the three most prestigious dance competitions in the world.
