Under the direction of Gaël Darchen , the Maîtrise des Hauts de Seine vocal ensemble is both unique and multi-faceted : from lyrical solos to big oratorios, the Maîtrise adapts with ease to any vocal format.

The Maîtrise officially became the "Paris Opera Children’s Choir" in 1995 in recognition for its high artistic and performance standards.

Originally created in 1985 near Paris by the Hauts de Seine local governement, the Maîtrise has sung with a stellar cast of world-class artists from James Colon to Seiji Ozawa and Valerie Gergiez, André Engel to Jean-Louis Martinoty and Patrice Chéreau, José Van Dam and Roberto Alagna, and Nathalie Dessay and Felicity Lott.

The Maîtrise has performed in over 30 countries on five continents. They have carried the torch of French vocal music all around France and the world with notable recent performances at Festival d’Aix, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Opéra-Comique, Teatro Real in Madrid, and Baalbek International Festival. Their recordings range from classical to contemporary repertoires, Mozart to Britten, Pergolese and Vivaldi, all the way to opera rock and soundtracks for the wide screen.
