Creative Cocktail Selection is Coming Soon@Duke's,Langham

Rush Limbu’s passion for cocktails began back in 1999, when he discovered the similarities

between cocktails and art, and how different cocktails are born depending on one’s

creativity, just as art is.

Rush received no formal education in wines or spirits, learning all his skills solely from

experience. Having previously worked at well-known bars and restaurants such as Ping

Pong Gin Bar Gintornea, IL Milione Bar and Restorante, and Otto e Mezzo, Bombana, his

experience in the industry helped him develop new skills, mixing different sorts of spirits and

liquors based on moods and personal preferences. This led up to his new position as Bar

Manager at The Langham, Hong Kong’s up and coming bar, Artesian.

With Artesian featuring Bourbon at its best, Rush is given the opportunity to work with his

favourite cocktail base, as it is the oldest spirits that give the most historic Classic Cocktails.

Some of the new creations worth mentioning that Rush has brought to Artesian include Dim

Sum Old Fashioned, Chinese Julep, The Langham and 1865. Not only do the flavours

and ingredients reflect on the Chinese heritage, but the names of the cocktails also reflect

on the Chinese culture. For instance, Rush’s intentional use of the “goji berry” is used

because of its popularity in Hong Kong due to its countless health implications.

Dubbed “The World’s Best Bar” in 2012, 2013 and 2014 by Drinks International, Artesian in

The Langham, London’s aim is to surprise guests with creative cocktails. This is the same

concept Rush works around at Hong Kong’s Artesian, whilst also focusing on making it one

of the most unique bourbon-based bars in the city.

“Passion is what brings one to where he or she is. Don’t treat a job like a job; you must

love it,” Rush says, as a key piece of advice to aspiring mixologists plus food and beverage

specialists alike.
