Joyce DiDonato – “In War & Peace: Harmony Through Music”

Opera diva celebrates a peaceful New Year

Nothing like the soothing power of music to connect people around a grand occasion.  CCM celebrates both its 20thanniversary and a fresh New Year with Joyce DiDonato in concert! Brilliantly supported by the sound of Il Pomo d’Oro, a virtuosic ensemble conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev, the elegant North-American diva brings us In War and Peace, an outstanding string of arias masterly interpreted and staged!

Bringing a fresh interpretation to each composition, DiDonato’s timbre ranges between innocent simplicity and consummated emotions, swiftly dramatized by the choreographed moves of a dancer. The show renders an insightful perspective on Baroque, with works by English composer Purcell, German genius Handel, and the Italian creativity of Leonardo Leo.

Proclaimed by The New Yorker as “the most potent female singer of her generation”, the mezzo-soprano Grammy winner has conquered audiences across the globe with powerful and highly meaningful performances. The In War & Peace tourmade furor with concerts at prestigious venues, from New York's Carnegie Hall and London's Barbican Centre, to the Berlin Philharmonie and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.

This international spree will reach us too, bringing along an entourage that will let Didonato spread peace at the Grand Auditorium, dressed in gowns designed by fashion icon Vivienne Westwood. Excitingly induced by moments of vocal finesse and stark orchestral sensuality, this show brings in a heartfelt message that could only be conveyed by an artist who is fairly considered by many as one of the few true divas of our time!
