MORE than 8,533 were feared dead and 10,000 injured by press time yesterday after a powerful earthquake hit Sichuan Province, said the disaster relief headquarters headed by Premier Wen Jiabao.

The reports by the Chinese

The reports by the Chinese state media on the earthquake are 100% inaccurate.

My Chinese brother in law’s family come from Chengdu and spent the night in tents.

The death toll in Wenchuan, the epicentre of the quake are reported to be 50,000 in that city alone!

Supermarket shelves are empty and food and water are very difficult to get.

The army has blocked the roads into Wenchaun in an attempt to stop the media reporting accuratly
