I live in Shenzhen and recently I found out a once small gallstone has gotten big and probably requires me to have my gall bladder removed but I would rather have the operation done in Hong Kong. Is there a doctor, or hospital actually, that someone here would recommend? Would you know the cost of the operation as well? The surgery is called laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

I have been treated at the Adventist Hospital in Hong Kong. It appears to be an excellent hospital. I had to stay overnight, the rooms were clean, all of the staff including nurses, doctors and accounting speak excellent English. The two doctors I saw were both graduated from UK medical schools. I would give it a very high ranking. It is just up the mountain from Happy Valley.

The cost is not low, but the medical care is excellent. They also accept many types of insurance, but be aware that for most you will need a "pre-approval" from the insurance carrier.
Good Luck with your operation.
Has anyone done surgery
Has anyone done surgery here? I'm worried about how safe it is. Any info would be helpful.

Hello,
I'm quiet newbie here so i can't help you find a doctor. But I got same surgery 1 years ago in France. 3 days at hospital, and one week taking care at home. Never had real pain. But the laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be also made by the classical technic if required because of anatomic reasons or safety needs. You can generally go back to work after 5 to 7 day at home, depend of your job.
