Wasting time in Shenzhen

Having spent last year in Yangshuo i'm used to going to a cafe and doing some serious people watching for an hour or two. maybe surfing the net on my laptop using the local wifi connection and occasionaly getting a refill on my coffee. is there somewhere in shenzhen, perhaps near the nanshan district, if it's not too much to ask, where one could do so?

The free refills on the coffee might be difficult but might like just hangin at the Starbucks near the Big Boat in Shekou. Where in Nanshan are you? I tend to just use the many Starbucks to achieve what you are talking about;) The other Starbucks I like for this are the one near all the bars at Citic Plaza(Ke Xue Guan Metro) and the one at MixC(Da Ju Yuan Metro).

I saw people using their laptops in Startbucks in Garden City, so all things being equal, you should be able to do the same at Startbucks in Coastal City.

I am failrly new to the Nanshan area myself but have spent a few afternoons in a Coffe place called Ming Tien (I think) It is painted green, 2nd floor at the top of Chuangye Road - near to the big intersection with the pedestrian flyover. Am hoping this makes sense!
It has wifi, people to watch and OK coffee

Maybe some more experienced residents can comment further....

McDonald's is only place in China with free coffee refills (aside from Mr Donut in Shanghai that gives you one refill) not much atmosphere though. Enjoy!

Not true. IHOPE, the fake IHOP in Futian, near Marco Polo offers free refills on coffee. I think the donut place，Donut Kingdom offers refills too. Maybe that new donut and coffee place, JJ Coffee and Doughnuts now open in basement of King Glory Plaza might too. Gotta check them out soon:)
