Shenzhen Nanshan Museum is a large-scale comprehensive state-owned museum. It was established in 2014 by the Nanshan District Government. The Nanshan Museum undertakes the history and humanities research work of Nanshan. It is responsible for the collection and research of the unearthed cultural relics in the Nanshan area. Founded in 2016, Jardin Orange has been the first artist residency program of Shenzhen. It aims to promote the development of contemporary art in the region and enables each artist that comes to grow and develop further their style. Within the residency itself, it presents the drawings, sculptures, paintings and murals made by each of its artists.
The residency encourages all artists to experiment with their talents so that they may incorporate a foreign “touch" to their aesthetics, as well as blend and collaborate with the others that work alongside them. Adjacent to the Main Gallery is the V&A Gallery, a space that will strengthen Design Society’s discussions on the contemporary by framing a debate on values of design through objects that offer historical and global context. The V&A Gallery presents a diverse cross section of objects from the V&A’s own permanent collection. Carefully selected for and inspired by Shenzhen, the exhibition also presents new acquisitions to the V&A collection, sourced from Shenzhen itself.

The Sea World Culture and Arts Center is the first building by Maki and Associates in China. Designed in 2011, every aspect of the building was crafted to reflect its function as a premiere public institution, as well as to make a connection between Sea World, Nüwa Coastal Park and the coastline. Bethanie, an 1875 French Mission Sanatorium at Pokfulam, has been lovingly restored as the home of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ School of Film and Television. This remarkable architectural gem is a unique setting for special occasions.
Bethanie Museum, which tells the history of the French Mission, Bethanie and its sister foundation Nazareth, is open to the public. Museum ticket holders will be provided with a complimentary guided tour of this historic site (n.b. tour itinerary is subject to venue availability). Among the first facilities to open is a geology museum that spans more than 8,000 square meters and offers instructional exhibits using multimedia technology. The museum is home to more than 500 exhibits, including precious minerals and fossils.
The museum is open between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday.
The park covers nearly 51 square kilometers and 67.8 kilometers of coastline. It features volcanic rocks that formed after two eruptions 135 million years ago and coastal landforms that formed between 20,000 and 10,000 years ago.
Two hiking paths, also known as “geological relic survey routes,” have been built in the park. Read more »
