it is normal in shenzhen that you have to pay half month of rental as the comission to the agent

Hi all!

My wife and I are moving from Shanghai to Shenzhen next month and we are trying to decides where to live.

We are considering either Shekou or Futian; does any body know the pros and cons of each area?

Also I have spoken to a number of companies for house rental and they all say I should pay them 50% of one month's rent as should the landlord as their fee.
