ShenzhenDaily has an article named "Mt. Wutong tollgates to be scrapped soon" by Han Ximin.
Descriptions are quoted as below:
"THE tollgates for Wutong Mountain Tunnel connecting downtown Shenzhen and Yantian District will be scrapped in April this year.
At the ongoing annual session of the city legislature, deputy Li Bing, chairman of the Yantian Port Group, told a discussion panel Sunday that the group and the city government had acquired 100 percent of the Wutong Mountain Tunnel shares from the tunnel operators for 800 million yuan (US$121 million). The operators are a joint venture between the group and Hong Kong Dajia, a subsidiary of Hong Kong Hutchison Whampoa Ltd.
“Yantian Port Group paid 550 million yuan for the requisition and would transfer the ownership to the city. The city government had approved dismantling the tollgates in April,” Li said.
The cancellation of the tunnel toll would benefit truck drivers who have to drive to the Yantian port via the tunnel and will promote the economy of Yantian District. The charge is more than 10 yuan for each vehicle each time.
City lawmakers first put forward a proposal to cancel the toll for Wutong Mountain Tunnel 15 years ago."
