Where to live in Shenzhen?

Good Day,

I will be moving to Shenzhen with my girlfriend in 1 week, and we are looking for places to live near the OCT. I are looking for a 1-2 bedroom, kitchen, laundry, etc. We want to pay between 2000-3500 RMB a month.

I hope someone can answer the following questions:

1. Where should I look to find afforable apartments near the OCT. ( I am willing to travel 5-7 metro stations.)

2. Is it better to look for apartments upon arrival or go through an agent? (it seems most places advertsied on this website are quite expensive.)

3. Where do you recommend a foreigner (canadian) should live in Shenzhen? (I lived in Taiwan for a year so it wont be much of a culture shock)

4. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

if you wanna live where most foreigners are living，I recommend Shekou, Nanshan District. There are lots of foreigners n its not far from OCT(abt 5-6 metro stations as u said). But its a bit far away from the central area of Shenzhen.

I think if u find apt through agent will be easier cuz they will arrange everything for u .but u may need to pay extra fees for that.

Also, do u need any help on ur mandarin? I can help u to find a professional good teacher if needed.

I just want to tell you in professional eye ,maybe you can hardly find a suitable apartment. because oct is on of the high living standard district in shenzhen. the lowerest price for the apartment is 5000 to 6000 RMB.
