places to live in Shenzhen

Hi. I will arrive in Shenzhen next month and would really like some recommendations of good neighbourhoods to live in Futian / and / or Nanshan. My office will be in Nanshan. I wouldn't need a big apartment and so 49 metres squared would suffice for example. Does anyone know of good apartment buildings to live in around the futian district near the main convenieneces such as metro line, malls, shops, parks etc? Walking distance of 10 minutes is okay. Also, interested in sharing a place with another person so how would I go about this and am I right in believing it would be a cheaper way to settle in - because I wouldn't need to put down a deposit of my own on my own place?

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Caroskil,

I am not sure how long you will stay in Shenzhen. you know, short-term rent is always costy and hard to find. If you will work in NanShan District, I suggest you live nearby Window of the World or BaiShiZhou. You will find it is very convenient there and the apartments are only 5- 10mins' walk to the MetroStation and there are lots of bus stations if you would like to take the bus. However, the rent is a bit high and it costs around 2500-3000 RMB per month for an aparment with 2 bedrooms and 1 dining room. If you prefer a cheaper one, I suggest you live in Yukang or Haiya. It is a litte far from FuTian but also convenient for you to get to MetroStation and BusStation.
