Shenzhen Daily: Shenzhen’s unattached celebrate Singles Day

NOTICED anyone carrying four deep-fried dough sticks, called youtiao, today? How about somebody eating a steamed, stuffed bun called baozi for breakfast this morning? If you did, then you might have seen one of the many unattached people in Shenzhen celebrating Singles Day today.

Four youtiao sticks represent the four Arabic numerals in today’s date, 11.11. And if you’re wondering what the baozi means, it’s the period in between.
