LANDLORDS will face civil charges, or even criminal charges in some cases, for accidents that occur on their properties, according to a new law on the safety of rental housing.
The law, which is expected to take effect in Shenzhen soon, is the first of its kind in China. “The new law demands landlords keep their houses safe,” said Hu Tiejun, legal consultant of the city’s property leasing association.
