Shenzhen Daily: Former police chief on trial

CHEN XUMING, former deputy chief of the Longgang District Public Security Subbureau, stood trial Friday on charges of negligence of duty and taking bribes following a nightclub fire that killed 44 in September.

Chen admitted taking bribes of 60,000 yuan (US$8,779) from Wang Jing, owner of the unlicensed Dance King nightclub, but denied the charge of negligence of duty at the hearing of the Yantian District People’s Court.
