call up or meet the officials in embassy / consulate of china in india and ask them if its really required and if yes. from where u can try to get it in china.

well there is no such rule in china now due to policy have got changed even if your spouse is a chinese then also it depends on goverment how long visa they will issue you.

How ever the process is same :

First option you can show your wife as a share holder in your company or can show her a employ on a good post in your company such as Business Development Manager or General Representative then you have to follow such process i am in lack of time because i have an interview so i am posting it in chinese by your translaters help you can got to know what it is .

you got to apply a work permit for your spouse in Labour department with supporting documents below
1,填写《申请外国人入境 签证审批表》，要求网上下载，须用电脑填写并打印，经法人代表本人签字并加盖公章，表中国人姓名项必须按其护照资料页完整填写，外国人国籍，其护照号码必须准确无误，与其护照登记资料一致；外国人职务须用中文如实填写；
2，详细申报告，须用带有申请单位名称、地址、电话、传真的信笺用简体中文打印，详述双方公司业务性质、具体来华目的、行程安排、邀请外国人来华理由要合理充分，加盖公章；

3,邀请单位营业执照（上年度年审）或其它注资料，核原件，收复印件；

4，最新工商登记注册材料，核原件，收复印件（请去工商局或深圳市工商物价信息中心打印）；

5，上年度国税局和地税局纳税证明，核原件，收复印件（请去公司注册地辖区内国税分局所、地税分局/所打印，非公司国税、地税税务登记证）

6,外国人有效护照复印件，必须清晰可见姓名、出生年月日、国籍、护照号码、护照有效期等相关信息，护照有效期有效期须6个月以上；

7，曾来华外国人必须提供清晰以往来华签证及出入境记录复印件，缺失最近一次中国出境记录不给受理；

9，来华就业或任职者还需提供深圳市劳动局核发的《外国人来华就业许可证》或外国专家局核发的《外国专家来华就业许可证》，核原件，收复印件。

11,市外办有权要求申请单位提供1－10项以外的相关资料。

注；以上材料如是外文（护照资料页除外），则须同时提供中文翻译件。

二，审批时间；临时商务签证审批需4个工作日，申请工作签证审批时间需10个工作日

三，报件地点：福田区福中3路市民中心B区行政服务大厅47号窗口

四，市外办事办室网站：WWW。SZFAO。GOV。CN 可提供《申请外国人入境签证审批表》表格下载

and then wait for 10 working days (2weeks) goverment for sure will reply you with a paper weather you can get work permit for your wife or not if their reply is yes then they will issue you a paper in chinese of course with a chop which specify that your wife can get Z visa from home country (INDIA) after your wife with the document issued by labour department should go to CHINESE consulate in INDIA by herself with a medical test should be not more then 7days old and they will issue her a Z visa one month valid and after getting back to china she can immidiately give to extend that and again depends on goverment as a trial they will issue her 6months if you are lucky they can give 1year as well and then extend it simply dont forget to make residence permit from a local police station after she enter in CHINA with even 1month Z visa as without Z visa INDIANS can't have residence permit in CHINA now
