just arrived in Shenzhen

Sorry don't really know Baoan that well apart from the fact that it is not a great place to live if you foreign.

People I have run into who live there seem to head for Shekou Seaworld on Friday and Saturday nights for a drink. Lot of Europeans living around the area.

It is about 20min or so by taxi from Baoan to Shekou.

Area has a lot of western restaurants, coffee shops and a few good bars and clubs. Have selection of australian, indian, japanese, italian, mexican etc etc for food.

Some of the places to go are "The Terrace" (Thai food as well) for great live band (maybe best band in Shenzhen)and dancing or bars like McCawleys (irish pub and has good live band as well)or Enigma Bar (pretty cool looking, pool table, DJ).

Anyway. Hope you have some luck getting some feedback from local Baoanian's about where to go locally.

I am working and living BaoAn district also, we are next to the new office central, so all the question and info. you need you can easy to found at this location, walmart, starbucks, sport central with big swimming pools and gym...etc are all in the Bao An new central district...
But for the Jiu Bar Jie, than you need to go to SheKou, or OCT, or city town...
Hope you enjoy my city...

Ciao! there are an amazing array of great clubs, gyms, pools, etc in Shenzhen..but Bao An is the countryside...far from the city

There are quite a few jiubajie's in Shenzhen. You can try Shekou, OCT (Overseas Chinese Town), Windows of the world and Coco Park.

Not sure what there is in Bao'an though.

ok Baoan is not the the center of the city but it's not so 'countryside'!!! I already went to shekou and it's not bad there.
But where is the Baoan New Central District? Address? in chinese please...
