You need to get your DL translated into chinese by the notary office.

Then go to Xili and show them your documents and they will then allow you to go and book your test.

The test corst 70RMB and each time you have two attempts to pass, you need to get 90 points out of 100. If you pass you pick up your license one week later.

The test questions are available online and there is a pool of 1500 questions that the 100 for the test will be picked from.

The test is done by computer and can be done in a number of languages.

People charging you 2000 for the license are offering to take your application and bribe someone to give you a pass.

Could you tell me where online I can find the test question pool please. Thx...

thanks for the heads up on the bribe thing thc23, so from what i gather from your post i only have to take a written and theres no acutal road test if i pass

If you already have a full valid license from your home country then there is no need to do the road test, just get a notarised translation and apply for the test. You also need a copy of your visa and passport.

I will have to dig up the webiste address for the test download for you.

I think that there is a post on this site with it already though.

I have downloaded the 1500 questions, removed the ones for lorries, buses etc (so just for car exam) and converted it into a XLS spreadsheet (1318 questions).

You read the question, type in your answer, it tells you if you are right or wrong and gives you a % result at the end.

Well having crammed all weekend for the theory test (and I mean crammed! All 1500 questions!) I turned up, sat for 2 hours almost, to be told I couldn't take the test as the company who were supposed to set everything up for me (charged a fortune and from what I can see have done NOTHING) had not submitted the paperwork I obtained and gave them! Can go back on the 30th no problem, but I will probably be out of the counyrt then! Serves me right I suppose, if you want something doing right, DO IT YOURSELF!

Firstly let me apologise. I offered the file and didn't realise it was so big. I have had numerous requests for it and they have all been returned as the file being too big for the mailbox limit size.

I paid 2,800RMB (yes, don't laugh!) for somebody to do all the donkey work for me, getting paperwork, submitting it, getting me to and from the test centre etc etc etc. I only used this guy as my wife was told by friends that he had helped some people in the area we live and that he was really helpful and friendly... I DIDN'T KNOW he was going to scoop that much cash from me! She arranged it and I didn't like to argue with her as she went to so much effort!

I was always expecting to take the test myself, not get a freebie, but I wasn't expecting to do all my own leg work! I had to get all my documents translated and notorised myself that he said I needed (100RMB PER DOCUMENT!), running around finding the offices that dealt with westerners etc etc etc!

I expected to give me a little tutorage on the highway code and the test bank questions, or at least loan me a book or a print out with them in! I tried to get a web address off him where I could find them and he couldn't even give me that!

He did drive me to the test centre on the 15th. He picked me up at 7.30am, was there at the centre by 7.50am. He pointed in the vague direction of where I had to go and went off leaving me as he had a driving lesson! He had told me that it started at 08.30am, WRONG! It started sort of moving around 09:10am, so for 1.5hrs sat on my butt (and it was cold at that time of morning!) until I was told that my paperwork wasn't present and I couldn't take the test. Fortunately my wife had come with me also otherwise I'd have probably been stuck there like a dummy for hours (MORE!).

They arranged for me to be driven back home to Shekou, and advised me that the person who was going to submit my paperwork hadn't managed to get me on the list! Quite why it took them 4 days to realise that is beyond me!

Today (Wed 17th) they telephoned me to say that the paperwork (that they had checked was correct and supposedly submitted) was missing a detail (the driving licence translation didn't state it was a UK one) and I would have to return to the notary to have it added!

As far as I am concerned I have been SCAMMED of my 2,800RMB and they have done NOTHING to help me in the slightest!

My advice, do it yourself! If you need any help and advice email me and I will gladly provide details!

Well, was picked up this morning (30th), supposedly at 08:00 but was being called at 07:45 asking where I was. Got taken to the test centre and dumped, again. Fortunately I had my wife with me again as all the instructions were in Chinese and would have been lost without a translator.

Finally got into the test area. As thought, 100 questions randomly selected from the question bank that you had to achieve a 90% pass rate in. If you failed the first try you could have a second go immediately.

You have 45 minutes to complete the test and you don't find out your score until you submit your results (which you cannot do until 15 minutes of the test have elapsed).

I'm pleased to report that I passed with flying colours.

Again, its as well my wife was there otherwise (as I had just been dumped there) I wouldn't have had a clue where to go or what to do next!

The pass paper was submitted and the licence will be ready on the 6th Jan.

I then found out that there was no transport to take me back home as there should have been, as the vehicle was having to drive some people to Guangzhou! Funny how nobody had mentioned this earlier! Consequently we were dumped near the test centre and had to (eventually) flag down a taxi to get us home!

As I said before, don't waste your money on getting anyone to help you UNLESS THEY DO! Find out exactly WHAT they will do for your cash! I still have the twisted gut feeling of being scammed of my money and having received nothing for it! RIPPED OFF! All my efforts were of my own making and nothing to do with the person who was supposed to guide and help me through everything.
