Clarification on Wiring Money to China Merchant Bank Account

I recently setup a bank account with China Merchants Bank and am now trying to arrange my first wire transfer from my bank in the United States to CMB. I was given information at their CBD branch I went to which said I can wire directly to their branch, however on their website, http://english.cmbchina.com/corporate+business/international/settle/sett…, they designate U.S. intermediary banks as the way to send funds to China. Does anybody have any experience with this?
