Celebrating Children’s Day in China with Music and Magical Shows

Children from all over the world, including China, are always looking forward to Children’s Day.  This is because this is the one special holiday in the whole year that the whole world honors their very existence.  The children in China know that they would get to have fun activities and events during this very special day, plus, this is also the only day they do not have to wear their school uniforms to attend Children’s Day in their schools.  With all these in line, celebrating Children’s Day in China is indeed something to look forward to.

In Shenzhen, China, Children’s Day is a very important occasion and it is necessary to do something to entertain and amaze children grade 6 and below.  This 2011, Shenzhen made sure that children would not only enjoy one special holiday, but 4 days of music and magical shows.  Shenzhen has prepared a series of children musicals and plays based on classic fairytales on May 28th, 29th, 31st, and June 1st. 

This coming Children’s Day, children and their parents could get a chance to watch different musicals and plays.  The upcoming series of shows include “A Deer of Nine Colors”, a story that revolves around a merchant’s encounter with a spiritual deer of nine colors.  This deer guides the man in his journey and even rescues him from drowning.  In return, the man is not to tell anyone about where the deer can be found.  He was bribed by a king and he finally spilled the beans.  This leads to the eventual drowning of the merchant all because of his greed and lack of word of honor.  There is also “New Snow White” which is a rendition of the original “Snow White”, except in this show, Snow White fights back. 

“Sleeping Beauty” and “Alice in Wonderland”, two of the famous fairy tales worldwide, will also be staged as a puppet show.  Another puppet show is a play called “My Own Swordsman” which is based on a TV series in China also of the same title.  This is about the funny stories of a small inn owner and her staff and guests. 

Shenzhen also prepared great concerts like the Japanese Animation Music concert and the US Animation Music Concert.  The Japanese concert will feature well-known Chinese pianists performing theme songs from famous Japanese anime like Astro Boy.  They will also be performing other western pieces.  The US concert, on the other hand, will be featuring an Italian orchestra which will perform famous music from US animations like Looney Tunes and Flintstones.  Another show that will surely enchant not only the children of Shenzhen but also their parents is the Bubble Magic Show which features magicians who make use of gigantic bubbles to entertain the audience.  All these and more will be performed in celebration of Children’s Day in Shenzhen, China.
