A victim fell ill in Jan.6 and dead from H5N1 bird flu virus in Guizhou province. This is the second H5N1 death in China. The first one is a bus driver in Shenzhen who dead on December 31 for the same reason.
Though the virus is known to spread through contact with infected birds, bird feces or bird eggs, the two victim didn't have such contact. Some experts said that the virus can mutate into a more easily spreadable form and thus cause a pandemic.
However, people who have contact with two victims recently are still healthy now, leading experts to believe that neither case involved human-to-human transmission.

I am sure that these questions have been addressed many times, but I will ask them again :p
I will be coming to Shenzhen in about three weeks. I've lived abroad before, but this will be my first time in China. I'd like to get a handle on how long things take to get set up so I can prepare myself.
Getting an Apartment
How easy is it to find a good apartment at a good price? Can it be done in a matter of days, or does it usually take longer? Can I move in any time, or do I have to wait for the 1st of the month? What type of security deposit is required? Is a large deposit generally required like it is in Korea?

Hello all!
My name is Peter Matarrese. I am an American who will be relocating to Shenzhen in the next month. I would like to find work with a Chinese company, preferably in the shipping/international trade industry, but I don't know how to go about searching for job openings. I've spent a year teaching English in Chengdu, and a semester studying full time at Sichuan University. I am looking for experience with trade/import-export in addition to improve my Chinese by working in a completely Chinese office. Does anyone have any advice or leads that they could share with me? I'm very excited to be heading to Shenzhen after a year and a half in central China. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi people,
I have this kind of question. I'm in Shenzhen already 2 month and now some of friends of mine is asking me to by and send electronic goods to them. So anybody know cheapest way to send the packages out of china. I don't want to use HDL or FedEx directly because the price for shipping sometimes is exceed the price of package content. I heard it is possible to find agents, they are also using DHL or FedEx but price will be cheaper. Can anyone suggest me how to do?
Thanks a lot.

We (2 French guys, 26/27 years old) are living/working in Nanshan and looking for nice guides to enjoy our trip (which means to not get lost! and discover nice places…). We just want take our car and let's go to the adventure around shenzhen for few days to discover any nice places like mountain, lake/beach or wherever you know nice places to pass by. We are open minded, well educated, easy going people, and expect to make this trip with same kind of people. We are flexible on the schedule (on holidays, starting from this Wednesday until January 29th).
If you feel curious to know more details about the trip or us, do not hesitate to reply.
Enjoy your CNY!
I am looking for mate to play tennis in Nanshan. I am just little bit over beginner stage and progressively become an aggressive shooter. Just for fun, for health, I pay everything off.

Shenzhen Daily, Lihao reported that "PASSENGERS have been advised to arrive at the city’s airport two hours before their departure time to avoid missing their planes in the run-up to the Spring Festival holiday.
The airport implemented a new rule from Jan. 1 to stop flight check-in 40 minutes before departure time. However, an increasing number of people have missed their planes due to ignorance of the new rule, according to Daily Sunshine.

"All train and air tickets to my hometown had been sold out. " Said Liu, a Shenzhen resident. Shenzhen has seen a robust car rental market ahead of the Spring Festival.
“We now only rent cars to people who want to use the vehicles for more than 10 days,” said an employee of Shenzhen Dingsheng Car Rental Company. The employee said a Guangzhou-made Honda normally costs less than 500 yuan (US$79) per day. However, the price has jumped to 600 yuan a day.
“Some car rental companies have doubled their prices,” said the staff member.
It is common practice in the car rental industry to set a mileage limit on rented cars. However, some local car rental companies have canceled the limit to attract more customers. Read more »
